About Us

How To Clip is an independent editorial site covering the clipping economy — written by someone who has been in it since January 2022.

It covers clipping from every angle: how to start earning as a clipper, how to build and grow an agency, and how brands can use performance-based content distribution to replace part of their ad budget.

All content is produced by Max Harlow — founder of ViralCut Agency, clipper since January 2022, and Bali-based digital nomad since August 2024.

Why This Site Exists

When Max started clipping in 2022, there was no serious, honest resource explaining how the industry actually worked. Discord servers were fragmented. The guides that existed online were either 500-word blog posts with no real data, or disguised ads for platforms that paid to be featured.

He lost time — and money — following bad advice.

When he founded ViralCut in 2023, he realized he had accumulated data that nobody was sharing publicly: what CPMs to realistically expect by niche, how a clipping agency actually operates day-to-day, what the real ROI looks like for a brand running a 90-day campaign.

How To Clip is the resource Max would have wanted in January 2022.

Four Audiences, Four Perspectives

  1. Beginner clippers — You want to earn your first paycheck editing clips. You don’t know which platform to use, which niche to target, or what a “good” CPM looks like. Max was exactly where you are in January 2022.
  2. Small agencies (1–5 clients) — You’re a clipper thinking about recruiting others, or you’ve signed your first clients and are figuring out how to deliver without doing everything yourself. Max built ViralCut from exactly that starting point.
  3. Scaling agencies (5+ clients, team) — You have recurring clients and a small team, but you want to grow without the business depending entirely on you. Max runs ViralCut with 31 clippers across 13 countries, entirely remote, from Bali.
  4. Brands and businesses — You’re hearing about clipping as an alternative to influencer marketing and paid ads, but you don’t know what it costs, how to evaluate ROI, or how to find a reliable agency. Max advises 18 active brand clients.

How This Site Makes Money — Full Transparency

How To Clip generates revenue through affiliate partnerships. When you click certain links on this site and complete a sign-up, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you.

Current affiliate partnership — Reach.cat: How To Clip has an affiliate relationship with Reach.cat. ViralCut Agency has run 100% of its brand campaigns on Reach.cat since December 2022 — not because of the affiliate deal, but because it’s the platform Max evaluated as superior for performance-based campaigns. The affiliate agreement followed the operational decision, not the other way around.

Platform comparisons on this site include Reach.cat’s real limitations. If another platform becomes stronger on a specific criterion, the article will say so.
